My Mistakes
This page is a section of the mistakes I've made throughout my blogging journey, but it's not limited to just blogging, as I'll also list mistakes in other aspects of my life.
I was inspired by GiveWell's "Our Mistakes" page on their website.
I'm not including past mistakes, since that would be a very, very, very long list in that case.
2026
- I forgot the email address and password for my Bear Blog account. For some odd reason, I couldn't figure out which email address I used for my account. Thankfully, Herman helped me regain access to it. It's bizarre and somewhat embarrassing, since I use a password manager, and I guess I didn't put that information into it at the time. Well, I'm definitely going to do that now.
- I recently purchased the Claude API for $20, which I realized was a hassle to set up with front-ends like SillyTavern. I was considering requesting a refund, but Claude has a strict non-refundable policy. So, this was a lesson learned: I will do more thorough research before purchasing something and check if there is a way to get a refund if something were to go wrong.
- Today, I joined a one-on-one video conference meeting for my soon-to-be transferred college. The advisor gave a lot of good advice, although the issue was that I didn't take any notes. While it's not mandatory to take notes during an advisor meeting, I still feel it would be important to do so to explain the situation to my family much more easily. I have a tendency to forget things quite easily, so this is useful for me.
- My Discord account was hacked. On my Windows partition of my PC, I've installed some info-stealer malware that affected my Discord and sent crypto scam messages to everyone in my Discord contacts. I've since deleted that partition, changed passwords, and taken many other security measures. Now, I've learned to be very careful when downloading software or games online, more so than I did before. Also, maybe I'll never use Windows again. I mean... I never liked it anyway.
