Amélie: A Beautifully Crafted Film
A movie I always come back to is the French cult classic film known as Amélie.
I cannot describe my love for this movie. My father owned a DVD of the movie in a small storage box in his study for many years. I remember the time I used MakeMKV to rip the DVD onto my PC with a disc drive my friend gave to me.
There's something about the joyous and delightful vibe of this movie that really intrigues me, from its phenomenal soundtrack to the unusual but amazing cinematography. I live in the West, so I'm not exactly sure how many people here actually know that this film exists or if it mostly has a European audience. Either way, I feel like this movie should garner more attention, especially given how creatively many films are becoming; A24 has been distributing various ones such as Everything Everywhere All at Once being an all-time favorite of mine (Michelle Yeoh is in this movie, and she's from Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, and that's already a plus!).
Amélie definitely has an impact on me when it comes to creativity. The fast-paced style of editing really gets me so invested when watching the movie. I'm not one for the more experimental side of films, but this is an absolute exception.
If you haven't seen this movie, I highly recommend it. It's the most unique film of its time, and even to this day, it's still beautiful.
